If you are looking for a tasty and healthy side dish, then look no further than my crispy sweet potatoes in the air fryer! I like to make these oil-free to avoid empty calories and they are just as crunchy and delicious! The trick is to parboil them, in addition to giving the potatoes a shake in the middle of cooking. Let me walk you through the steps!
What Kind of Air Fryer do I Need?
There are so many air fryers on the market it can be hard to decide what kind you need. I would base it on how many people you are feeding on a daily basis. If it’s just you, a smaller model for around $70 would be ideal. For me, we have 6 people to feed so a larger model like the one I use from Oster is the way to go!
Steps for Crispy Sweet Potatoes
First, select two medium-sized sweet potatoes and wash them thoroughly. Second, bring a large pot of water to a boil. Third, cut the potatoes into bite-sized pieces or fries. Fourth, add the chunks to the boiling water and parboil uncovered for four minutes. Fifth, drain and season, and toss to coat. Sixth, add to the air fryer
Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. And finally, at the ten-minute mark, remove from the air fryer and give it a shake to ensure even cooking. Return to the air fryer for the remaining ten minutes. Enjoy your healthy side!
Conclusion
I certainly hope you give this awesome recipe a try! It is super tasty and there are never leftovers! Many folks wonder why I avoid oils typically and why I started plant-based to begin with. If you’re one of those people, read my full story here! Leave me a comment with which potatoes you prefer fried: sweet or regular? Until next time, I’ll see you in the kitchen!
